First BOP Model Delivered
Subsea Solutions has delivered its first model of a blowout preventer (BOP) stack to BP for use on the BP Thunderhorse platform.
The model, which is approximately three feet in height, was designed and manufactured in-house by Subsea Solutions using BP's engineering drawings. The 3D models are reviewed for accuracy by the client before final manufacture.
Two models will be delivered in total: one for use on the drilling platform and the second model for BP's technical support office in Houston.
The models will be used for reference by BP personnel during technical discussions and troubleshooting.
Other operators have already submitted orders for models of their BOP stacks as well.
