Subsea Solutions reviewed what a third-party intervention well-control audit should include at the 2015 Deepwater Decommissioning Workshop in Houston.

A discussion on intervention well-control equipment from a regulatory standpoint to ensure compliance on a subsea P&A project was reviewed
by Subsea Solutions. The workshop covered investigating the critical components of well-control equipment third-party verification and the details of the process required, as well as understanding equipment pedigree and equipment preventive maintenance requirements as it relates to third-party verification letters.
The objective of the 2015 Deepwater Decommissioning Workshop was to apply Innovative Technologies and Processes to Your Deepwater Decommissioning Program to Aid Planning, Reduce Costs and Mitigate Delays. The workshop shared regional and international case studies, highlighting innovative processes
and technologies for the retirement of deepwater assets. In particular, the workshop shared benchmarks for the removal of SPARs, TLPs, and FPSOs,
and the plugging and abandonment of subsea and direct vertical access wells in water depths greater than 1,000 feet.

Decommissioning

Intervention2For complicated and costly decommissioning activities, it is beneficial, if not mandatory, that all significant risks are identified and appraised on an overall and theoretical unified basis.

SUBSEA SOLUTIONS INTERVENTION can play a vital role in planning decommissioning of subsea production equipment to quantify the associated risks in terms of risk to personnel and to the environment, as well as economical risks.
